Mark A. Marden

Mark A. Marden, 92, of Hollis, NH, passed away on September 22, 2023. He was born on March 26, 1931, in Holderness, NH, to the late Melvin and Irva Marden. Mark was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline B. Marden, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years of marriage.

Mark was a dedicated individual who led a fulfilling life. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, proudly defending his country. Following his military service, Mark worked at J. Lawrence Hall Heating and Air Conditioning for 40 years, retiring in 1996.

Mark and Jacqueline were active members of their community and deeply involved in their church, the Holderness Historical Society, and various fraternal organizations. Mark's commitment to his faith was unwavering, and he attended the First Baptist Church of Nashua, NH. He was a member of Rising Sun Lodge #39, Free and Accepted Masons of Nashua, NH; Olive Branch Mount Prospect Lodge #16 in Holderness, NH; a 60-year 32nd Degree Freemason of The Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of NH; and the Shriners Bektash Temple, First Section of Concord, NH.; also a 60-year dedicated member of Pilgrim Chapter #55 Order of the Eastern Star.

In his free time, Mark enjoyed staying active and maintaining his independence. He attended weekly chair yoga sessions with the Hollis Seniors and frequented the YMCA for workouts. Mark and Jackie were heavily involved with the Holderness Historical Society where they would even have Strawberry Short-Cake fundraisers and also volunteered at the Holderness Community Church. Mark was also a devoted member of The First Baptist Church of Nashua NH every Sunday.

Mark will be deeply missed by his children, Mark Marden and Peggy Dempsey of Maryland; Robert and Denise Marden of Hooksett, NH; Rebecca and James Gallagher of Gardner, KS; Edward and Joan Marden of Florida; Lois and James Taylor of Hollis, NH, Timothy and Susan Marden of Hooksett, NH; Mary and Calvin Alcorn of Milford, NH; sister-in-law Betty Moore of Campton, NH, and Sister-in-law Greta Hanson of Brookline, MA; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jacqueline, his father, Melvin F. Marden, his mother, Irva Marden, his half-sister Minerva Willoughby, and his stepmother, Sadie Marden.

Visitation Hours for Mark will be held at the Mayhew Funeral Home, 204 Daniel Webster Hwy, Meredith, NH 03253 on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, from 4pm to 6pm. There will be an Eastern Star and Masonic Service for family only following visiting hours. Funeral services will take place at the Holderness Community Church, 919 Daniel Webster Hwy, Holderness, NH, on Friday at 2pm. The Rev. Christopher Drew, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held n the Bridge Cemetery, Holderness.

Mark Marden's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his faith, and his community. May he rest in peace.
