Mark S. Hurley

April 7, 1961 — April 10, 2023

Mark S. Hurley, 62, of Laconia, NH, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2023, at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH.

Mark resided in Waltham MA for most of his early years. He was known by all to be sincere, loyal and generous. He loved to laugh, attend concerts, ride his motorcycle and enjoy the outdoors. His quick wit never failed to bring smiles to those around him. Mark cherished time spent with lifelong friends Chuck, Paul, Warren and Dave to name a few. He also enjoyed hanging out with his canine companions Pugsley and Dakota.

Mark struggled with health issues his entire life, but was always upbeat managing to lead a full and happy life. He spent time travelling across the U.S., then a year in Florida at motorcycle mechanic school, but always ended up back home to be with family and friends. His love of the outdoors eventually led him to relocate to New Hampshire, also close to family. Mark had several occupations over the years, but was most proud of his time as a Counselor for the Department of Youth Services in MA. He was a devoted Parishioner of Our Lady's Church in Waltham MA, followed by Saint Charles Borromeo in Meredith NH. His faith was strong and brought him much comfort as he battled his health challenges these past few months.

Mark's love of family and friends knew no boundaries. He was the loving son of Henry R. Hurley (deceased 1978) and Helen Hurley, formerly of Waltham MA currently residing in Laconia NH. Mark always put Mom's needs ahead of his own, spending most of the last years of his life living with and diligently caring for her.

Mark was a brother, in the truest sense of the word, to Brian Hurley of Moultonborough NH, who will always be amazed and inspired by the selfless and compassionate person that Mark was. Mark was brother-in-law to Paula Hurley, who grew to love him as a person who wanted nothing from family and friends other than to spend good times with them. He was a Fun uncle to his 4 nieces who he loved as if they were his own daughters, Emma, Meghan, Lauren and Erin treasured Mark and will miss him dearly. Over the years Mark remained close to his Aunts, Uncles and 5 Cousins. His Aunt, Carolyn Hurley of Moultonborough, lovingly helped to support Mark as he struggled through his final health challenge. Mark's Uncle Dave of Milford MA and Aunt Ginny's support were a comfort to him as well.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Doctors who helped Mark these past few months as well as to the kind and compassionate Nurses at the Granite VNA hospice house.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Charles Borromeo, Meredith NH on Wednesday, April 19, at 10am. The burial will take place in Newton, MA next to his father at a later date.
