PLYMOUTH---It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Marjorie A. Spead on February 27, 2025. She passed away at Speare Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Marge fought a courageous battle to recover from injuries sustained in falls and, sadly, also contracted COVID-19.
She was born on March 24, 1940, in Concord, NH, to James Spead and Vivian Kimpton Spead. The family later moved to Dorchester, where she attended PHS and formed many lifelong friendships.
Marjorie lived in Plymouth for over 60 years. She worked at the Woolen Mill in Ashland before transitioning to a career supporting adults with developmental disabilities. She then spent over 20 years working at Plymouth State University, where she was deeply loved and respected by staff, co-workers and students alike, before retiring in 2017. A passionate bird watcher and gardener, Marge could often be found tending to her roses throughout the summer.
Marjorie is survived by her loving daughter Linda Erb, son-in-law Buddy Erb, and her cherished grandsons, MacKenzie Erb and Samuel Erb. She is also survived by her beloved "four-legged grandsons," Goose and Ziggy, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was a mom, Grammie, and Auntie to all who knew her.
Viewing hours will be held at Mayhew's Funeral Home in Plymouth, 12 Langdon St. Plymouth, NH on March 15 from 12-3 pm. A graveside service and burial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Marge's name to the NH Food Bank or charity of your choice.
