Marjorie Etta Leggett, 94, of Rumney, NH, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
Born on August 30, 1917, in Newton Highlands, MA, she was the daughter of Charles R. and Hazel (Towne) Ernst. Marjorie was raised in the Highlands, graduating from Newton High School. She then went on to further her education at Radcliffe University, earning a bachelor?s degree in 1938. During the years of WWII, Marjorie worked at MIT as a chemist, doing lab work and research.
Marjorie resided in Springfield, MA for many years, before moving to the Concord-Lexington area, where she lived most of her life. She was a communicant at the Trinity Episcopal Church, in Concord, and was member of many clubs including: the Audubon Society, the Appalachian Mountain Club, and she volunteered as a ?Den Mother? for the Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts.
Marjorie is predeceased by her beloved husband, Matthew Bryce Leggett, ?Bryce?, in August, 1977. Bryce was also a chemist at MIT.
She is survived by her beloved children; son, Whitney M. Leggett, of Bridgewater, NH and daughter, Judith L. Daniels, of Hemp Hill, TX; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; a niece; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.Service:A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Newbury Court, 100 Newbury Ct., Concord, MA on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Donald Williams will officiate.Cemetery:Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery, Newton, MA at 1:30 pm.
