MEREDITH---Marion S. Brown, (97) passed away peacefully on Saturday December 19, 2015 at Forest view manor in Meredith.
Marion was born in Shapleigh, Maine on September 10, 1918 the daughter of George and Ivy (Muchmore) Stanley, the 8th of their 9 children.
She grew up on the family farm in Shapleigh attending area schools and graduating from Lindsey High School a one room school house, in 1936. She later met and married Leland E. Brown in 1938, living in several communities as Leland worked for the A&P Company. In 1957 they moved to Meredith and Marion worked and retired from Meredith Village Savings Bank in the 1980's. For several years during their retirement they wintered in Florida and spent summers in their camper at Camp Iroquois in Moultonborough.
Marion was an avid gardener and member of the Meredith Garden Club. Marion had a strong faith and was active in the First Congregational Church of Meredith. Her greatest joy was her family and taking care of her home and gardens.
Marion was predeceased by her husband Leland and two sons, Thomas A. Brown and Michael S. Brown.
Marion is survived by her daughter Patricia Amabile and her husband John; grandchildre Timothy Amabile, Cheryl Gray and her husband Keith; great-grandchildren Zachary and Nicholas Blake; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours and services will be private at the convenience of the family.
