Marilyn Alta Dunnet

Tilton---Marilyn A. Dunnet, (94)passed away of natural causes on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, New Hampshire.

Marilyn was born in East Hebron, New Hampshire on October 15, 1921 the daughter of Walter Richard and Florence (George) Merrill. She attended grade school in Hebron, New Hampshire and went on to Plymouth High School graduating in 1939. After high school she enlisted in the United States Navy. She was assigned to a unit in Washington, D.C. Her unit was active in the breaking of the Japanese code that lead to the victory over Japan in 1945.

Marilyn met her future husband, Donald Charles Dunnet in the mid to late 1930s. Donald's family, from New York, spent summer months at Merrill's Campground in East Hebron which was operated by Marilyn's family. Upon Donald's graduation from Texas A&M University the couple was married in 1944. At the end of WW II the newly married couple resided in West Plymouth where both were employed at the Veterinary Hospital in Plymouth. In 1947 Donald and Marilyn had their only child, Philip Merrill Dunnet. Shortly thereafter the family relocated to Long Island, New York where Donald joined his brother Philip Laird Dunnet in a veterinary practice.

In 1970 Donald and Marilyn retired and moved to Texas. Donald passed away on December 11, 1979. Marilyn relocated back to Bridgewater, New Hampshire shortly thereafter. She spent many happy hours working in her beautifully landscaped flower gardens. Marilyn had two very special brothers-in-law, Paul Winters and Rodney Davis who were both widowers of Marilyn's sisters Janet and Betsy. On many occasions Paul, Rodney, Marilyn and surviving sister Glenna would share meals and great times together.

Marilyn is survived by her son; Philip Merrill Dunnet and his wife Barbara Ann, three grandchildren, Catherine Anne Dunnet, Philip Matthew Dunnet and Elizabeth Carol Dunnet. Four greatgrandchildren Zoe Catherine Norris, Philip Michael Dunnet, Olivia Zain Dunnet and Travis Dean Norris. All are from the Dallas, Texas area.

Marilyn is predeceased by her parents; her brothers; Richard, George, John and Bill, her sisters; Pearl Morrill, Janet Winters, Ruth McPhee Heinis, Betsy Esty Davis and Esther Quimby.

At the request of the family there will be no memorial calling hours.

Services will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
