SPC Marc Paul Decoteau, 19, died Jan. 29, 2010, while serving with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan.He was born in Newburg, N.Y., Sept. 2, 1990, to Marc F. and Nancy A. (Griffeth) Decoteau. Graduated from Waterville Valley Elementary School and then from Plymouth Regional High School in 2008.  He was an outstanding student-athlete, playing lacrosse and football at Plymouth High, winning two state football championshipsHe was a member of Rumney Baptist Church, Rumney.He enlisted in the U.S. Army after his graduation in 2008.He was stationed in Afghanistan as part of a Psychological Operations unit based out of Fort Bragg, N.C.Family members, in addition to his parents of Waterville Valley, include a sister, Medora A. Decoteau and a brother, Andrew W. Decoteau, both of Waterville Valley; his paternal grandmother, Theresa M. (Marcotte) Dodge of Norway, Maine; his maternal grandparents, Burton R. and Marion F. (Hubert) Griffeth of Spring Lake, N.C.; and aunts, uncles and cousins.Memorials:Memorial donations may be made to the Marc P. Decoteau Memorial Fund, c/o Community Guarantee Saving Bank, PO Box 996, Plymouth 03264, to benefit the Plymouth Regional High School lacrosse team.Visitation:There are no calling hours. Service:A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Plymouth Regional High School. Cemetery:Spring burial will be held in Waterville Valley Cemetery, Waterville Valley.
