Lorraine C. Bisson

Lorraine Coffey Bisson who lived in the Campton/Plymouth area for 48 years passed away on August 19th 2009, six days prior to her 90th birthday. She was born in Berlin, NH on August 25, 1919 the daughter of Anne McConnell Coffey and David Coffey of Berlin, NH.She grew up in Berlin, NH attending each grade school level, and graduated from Berlin High School, class of '38. She continued her education at Westbrook Junior college, class of '39  On June 20, 1942 she married Alfred H. Bisson also of Berlin, NH. She first met Alfred when they were each five years old, but it wasn't until her high school and his LaSalle Military school years, she fell madly in love with him. The love affair lasted 62 years, less 10 days. With her husband, Capt. Alfred H. Bisson, a pilot with Pan AM for 37 and ½ years, she initially migrated to New York within his early career. Their first child, Anne Michelle Bisson (Kurriss) was born in NYC, while he trained on the famed flying boats. In the '40s, she migrated to Miami, FL where her four sons were born in the '50s. One of her oldest (70 years ), and dearest friend, Maxine Waugh, remembered her friend as one "who always had a solution to a problem"  In the early 60's, opportunity took her first to Germany (2 months), then England for a period of 5 years. It was an opportunity for her to provide the finest education possible for her children both formally and informally. Also, this is where she met her life long friends, Tom and Anne Blair.Returning to her home state in1964 she settled in Plymouth, NH where she became well known as a real estate agent. Through the later '60s, she worked initially with noted Realtor Jack Armstrong of NH Colonials. In the early '70s, she partnered with Real estate broker, John Miller. Through their efforts, many hundreds of individuals and businesses alike were given professional and very personalized service. Many of her clients purchased on a multiple time basis homes in the Lakes region during her 30 year career.    She is preceded in death by her husband Capt. Alfred H. Bisson on June 10, 2004 and her sisters, Eleanor Ingalls, Jan, '04 & Jean Gibson, in Dec., '05.  She is survived by her five children, daughter Anne Michelle Kurriss of Santa Barbara, CA. sons Dr. John A. Bisson MD of Burlington, VT, David H. Bisson of Westford, VT, Capt. Mark E. Bisson of Boston, MA, Capt. Stephen C. Bisson of Louisville, KY. , as well as 9 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 3 step great grandchildren.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice on behalf of Lorraine.Visitation:Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 6 thru 8 PM at Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St., Plymouth.Service:A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Monday, August 24, 2009 at 11 AM, at The Holy Trinity Church, in Plymouth, NH, with Father Cole officiating. Cemetery:Interment will follow the service at Blair cemetery in Campton.
