Lisa Kim Benton, 52, of Benton Road, Thornton, NH, died on October 11, 2016, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital, in Lebanon, NH, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Dunkirk, New York on March 23, 1964, she was the daughter of the late Gardner M. and the late Shirley A. (Pilon) Thompson.
Lisa grew up in Dunkirk, NY, and attended Dunkirk schools. She moved to the Thornton area in the early 1980's and has resided here since.
Lisa worked as a waitress for a several of years at a couple of area restaurants. She also worked for several years as a Licensed Nursing Assistant at Golden View Health Care, in Meredith and the Saint Francis Home in Laconia, NH. For the past three years, Lisa has worked as a school bus driver for Robertson Transit, in Campton.
Lisa had a strong love for animals and was a member of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Lisa was predeceased by her sister, Tracey Bearse, who died in April of 2015.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Shirley D. Benton and her son, Isaac P. Benton, of Thornton, her siblings, Julie G. Goodway of Forestville, NY, Janey M. Thompson, of Gowanda, NY, Randy Thompson and Gardner L. Thompson, both of Forestville, NY, also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St. Plymouth, on Saturday, Oct. 15th, from 1pm to 3pm. A graveside service will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery, NH Route 175, Thornton, on Monday, Oct. 17th, at 11am. The Rev. Margaret Bickford, pastor of the Wentworth Church, will officiate.
