MEREDITH --- Linda Jean Smith, 78, passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Belknap County Nursing Home, Laconia.
Linda was born on April 11, 1947, in Laconia, NH, daughter of the late Fay “Joe” Beede, Jr. and Martha (Brown) Beede.
Linda graduated from Inter-Lakes High School, Class of 1965. She worked in the service department for Stafford Oil Company for many years until she retired. She also Volunteered for the Meredith Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and for the Laverack Nature Trail Committee.
Linda enjoyed spending Monday evenings and outings with her TOPPS ladies. She enjoyed many outdoor activities like walking the Laverack Trail and street dances to the music of Annie and the Orphans. Linda’s greatest love of all was spending holidays or barbeques with family, which was the most important part of her life. When Linda was not doing any of these activities she could be found at home doing puzzles with her husband Carl and their special cat Harriet.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Carl Smith; children, Michael Ellsworth and his wife, Jennifer, Aaron Ellsworth and his wife, Jamie, Holly Hoyt and her husband, John, Jodi Smith, Sheri Ritchie and her partner, Steve Converse, and Lori Lindholm and her husband, Michael; grandchildren, Dillon, Sam, Dylan, Gracie, John, Mark, Trevor, Abby, Jack, Claudia, Caitlin, Caley, Hannah, and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Vivienne, Vivian, Blair, Emmie, Thomas, and Cooper; brothers Robert and Kenneth Beede; many nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends. Linda was predeceased by her parents Joe and Martha Beede.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Meredith Village Cemetery, Meredith, NH. A Celebration of Linda’s Life will follow the service for all at the Wicwas Lake Grange, 150 Meredith Center Road, Meredith, NH
