PLYMOUTH---LeRoy H. Whitehead, (83) passed away at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts on February 21, 2018.
LeRoy was born on July 13, 1934 in Plymouth, NH the son of Elmer and Madeline Whitehead (Bagley)
LeRoy attended went to school in Plymouth, NH and graduated from Plymouth High school. After high school, he enlisted into the United States Air Force, served 20 years and retired in 1973. During his military career he was in the Air Police Security forces and serving two tours in Vietnam.
LeRoy met his wife Shirley in 1965. They moved to Homestead, FL where they started raising a family. They lived in Florida for 11 years before moving back to Plymouth, NH in 1976, where he and Shirley continued to raise their family, while LeRoy was working at local businesses.
LeRoy enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and took immense pride in his yard and landscaping as well as his flower and vegetable gardens. Most of all he loved spending time with family and children and especially his grandchildren.
LeRoy is survived by his loving wife Shirley of 53 years, his children Deborah Woods, Tammy Rawson and her husband Chris, Clifford Jones and his wife Brenda, Andy Jones and his wife Peg, Ronda Whitehead Kilanowski and her husband Randy, Misty Whitehead and her partner Walter. His grandchildren; Charlie Jr, Cristy, Joshua, Lee, Sabrina, Danny, Chrystal, Allyssea, Aubre, Andrew, and Kashia and 11 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brother; Elmer (Jimmy) Whitehead Jr. and a sister; Alma Whitehead Sleeper.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in LeRoy's memory to the, VFW Post 4483 - 6 South Main Street PO Box 13 Plymouth, NH 03264.
Calling hours for LeRoy will be held on Tuesday February 27, 2018 from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon Street Plymouth, NH 0324. Followed by a celebration of Life from 6pm to 9pm at Heritage Commons in Samuel Reed Hall, Plymouth State University, 17 High Street Plymouth, NH 03264.
Burial will be held on May 7,2018 at 11:00 am at Riverside Cemetery Plymouth, NH 03264.
