Lamina A. Rayno

Lamina Anora Rayno, 75, of Meredith Center Road, died August 25, 2009, at Lakes Region General Hospital, in Laconia, after a brief illness.     Born in Dover-Foxcroft, ME on May 10, 1934, she was the daughter of Wilmot H. and Nellie E. [Reed] McCordic.     During the Depression, Lamina spent several years growing up in Bristol, NH with her aunt and then moved back to Maine.  She graduated from Belgrade High School, Belgrade ME, class of 1956.  She resided in Connecticut for about ten years and moved to Meredith in the summer of 1969.     She worked for the former Meredith Steam Laundry and as an assembler for Annalee Dolls, of Meredith.       She was a former member of the Meredith Bowling League.     Lamina started babysitting many young children in the Meredith Center area and over the years became known to most all the children as Mom.  In taking care of so many children she became known as "the Mother of Meredith Center."     She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Allen Rayno, who died in December of 2008, son David Rayno, who died in June of 1989, and her brother Almond McCordic.          Lamina is survived by her children, Janet L. Ainsworth of Meredith, Kenneth A. Rayno and wife Susan of Salem, NH, Bruce Rayno and wife Michele of Nokesville VA, Barbara M. Rayno of Laconia, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren nieces and nephews. Visitation:Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes #3 and #104, Saturday 2pm to 4pm.  Service:A graveside service will be held in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, on Monday at 11am.  The Rev. Edward Charest, pastor of the Plymouth United Methodist Church, will officiate.
