Kathryn Widman

October 27, 1988 — October 11, 2023

Kathryn Christine Widman, 34, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, surrounded by family at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston.

Kathryn, daughter of Gregory and Cheryl (Blair) Widman, was born in Concord, NH on October 27th, 1988.

Kate grew up in Moultonborough, NH, living at Geneva Point Center and then to the family built home on Winaukee Road. She attended Moultonborough Central School and Moultonborough Academy where she enjoyed playing basketball, volleyball, and softball. She also played in many volleyball tournaments while in Junior Olympics. After graduation she went to the University of Findlay in Ohio where she and her horse (yes, the horse traveled out there with her) were part of equine studies and business management.

In high school, Kate worked at E.M. Heath’s supermarket in Center Harbor, then moved onto working at Verizon Wireless in Center Harbor, CruCon Cruise Outlet in Moultonborough and currently worked at Middleton Lumber in Meredith in the accounts receivable office.

Kate’s love of horses started at the age of 4 when she saw her first horse and proceeded to plead with her parents to take lessons. She started her equine endeavor at Hartley’s barn in Meredith, N.H., and then to Steeldust farm in Campton, NH. With many supportive horse family members, Kate became involved in many horse passions including being the NH state director of NBHA, skijoring and team penning along with the fun informal horse outings with friends.
We enjoyed watching Kate and others participate in the Sandwich Fair gymkhana activities. She loved her horses, TJ, Bode and Boost.

Kate loved all animals but especially focused on her beloved black lab, Mickey. If you knew Kate, you knew Mickey who, like Kate, had a way of gaining friendships from many walks of life and ages. She treasured the people that contributed to many memories and diverse relationships.

Kathryn is survived by her parents, brother Sean Gregory Widman and sister-in-law Joanna, partner Zach Morrison, Aunt Jeannie and Uncle Charlie, Aunt Sara, Aunt Kristianne and Uncle Glenn along with cousins Barrett, Jennifer, Amanda, Alexa, and Trevor along with many, many friends who loved her too.

A private family service will take place at the convenience of the family. We ask that her friends celebrate Kate’s life in their own special way that honors her and brings joy.
