TAMWORTH ---KARL W. DEVAN, (53) passed away on October 21, 2016 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire.
Karl was born on February 28, 1963 to William and Joan (Thiessen) Devan in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He was an entrepreneur early in life and while in junior high school, ran a lawn mower repair business out of his parents garage in Stratford, Connecticut. After graduating from Bunnell high school in Stratford, in 1981, the joined the U.S. army and was stationed at Fort Irwin in California.
Upon his return to Stratford he worked as a salesman at several car dealerships in the area, and at the same time had windshield repair business. He was also a CPR and first aid instructor for the American Red Cross for many years. He then worked for Charter Arms Firearms in Stratford, Connecticut, where he formed many lifelong friendships, and fulfilled his passion of working in the firearms industry. He finally obtained his lifelong dream of moving to New Hampshire in 2010, with his loving wife Nancy. He fought hard and long over seven years while battling three bouts of cancer, and he continued to run his successful one-man business, always putting his customers' needs first. He loved hunting, fishing and all things that nature had to offer, which brought him to Tamworth, New Hampshire with the love of his life, his Nancy.
Nineteen beautiful years of marriage will never tear that bond apart, and Nancy will carry those dreams on till they meet again.
Karl is survived by the love of his life, Nancy Senger Devan of Tamworth, New Hampshire, his uncle, William Thiessen of Newtown, Connecticut, step sons; James Kyer and Geoffrey kyer of Connecticut, his cousin Darlene Devan of Milford, Connecticut. his lifelong best friend; Philip Trankovitch of Leesburg, Virginia, his dear friend and devoted companion Michal Stephien (bicycle Michal) and many dear and devoted friends in the Tamworth area.
Karl was predeceased by his parents, his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Karl's many dreams will live on thru the love, heart and eyes of his dear Nancy. Special thanks to Seacoast Cancer Center. Dr. Henry Sonneborn, all the staff on Garrison 4 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire and all the doctors and nurses who made Karl's final hours pain free and comfortable.
