Jutta Charlotte Kloetz

March 21, 1928 — September 4, 2016

Jutta C. Kloetz, 88, of Oakwood Road in Meredith died on September 4th, 2016 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a period of failing health.

Jutta was born in the city of Ruda Pabianice, Poland, and was the daughter of Joseph and Melanie Holfeier. After enduring the invasion of her country by both German and later Russian forces, she and her family escaped to American occupied Germany at the end of World War II. While in Germany, she attended school at the Frankfort Conservatory of Music where she met the love of her life and future husband, Wolfram. They were married on April 4, 1953 and immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Brooklyn, New York on January 5, 1954.

Jutta worked briefly at the New York Stock Exchange before embarking on a fifty plus year career as an extraordinary piano teacher. Many of her students have become accomplished pianists and music teachers in their own right and continued their special relationships with Jutta to this day.

Jutta and her family lived in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, Laurelton, Queens, Ramsey, NJ, and Meredith, NH during her life in the U.S. She taught music in all these locations.

Jutta loved sports and was an accomplished sprinter and long jumper in her native Poland garnering much attention from national coaches prior to the invasion of her country. She brought her talents to the U.S. and passed on her enthusiasm for both sports and music to her two children, Andre Kloetz and Colette Fand. They share memories of their mom continually beating them in races well into their teens and also of her being scolded more than once by their elementary school principal for running in the hallways of PS 156.

Jones Beach on Long Island, NY was one of Jutta's favorite places and many friends and family members made the often three times a week trip to the ocean with her in the family's Plymouth Fury III. Forever the daredevil, she was often seen jumping off life guard chairs and high flying playground swings into the beautiful white sand she loved so much.

Another favorite vacation spot for her was Pep's Landing on Keuka Lake where she made and reunited with many dear friends for two weeks every August. Friends will remember annual Watermelon Day festivities, swims across the lake, evening volleyball games and campfire gatherings.

Jutta was a wonderful parent and later a devoted grandmother and great grandmother. She was a very active grandma and enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and teaching them piano. Jutta loved supporting her family and enjoyed cheering for them at many sporting events as well as music performances. She was a familiar figure at many Ramsey High School and Inter-Lakes sporting events often being observed covering her eyes during close contests.

Jutta loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening. In her later years, she became an expert soup maker, constantly developing new recipes and sharing them with her ever growing family. Whenever she could, she enjoyed playing classical music on her piano, especially Chopin. In her final years, she made a daily game of Scrabble with her beloved husband a part of their daily routine in their quest to keep their minds sharp.

Jutta is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wolfram Kloetz, their daughter Colette Fand and son Andre Kloetz and his wife Paula, their grandchildren, Kris Kloetz, Samantha Prindiville and husband Matt, Travis, Jesse, and Kimberly Fand, and great grandchildren Evelyn and Gunnar Kloetz.
A family Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, September 10th at the home of Andre and Paula Kloetz.

The family wishes to sincerely thank all Jutta's caregivers at DHMC, LRGH, CMC, and Beth Israel hospitals, the Lakes Region Visiting Nurses Association, and her personal doctors for the dedicated care they provided her during her later years.

Memorial Donations may be made in Jutta's name to the Lakes Region Visiting Nurses, 186 Waukewan St., Meredith, NH. 03253 or www.lrvna.org
