Justin David
Hurd
July 15, 1992 – April 13, 2026
The world lost a bright light on April 13, 2026, with the passing of Justin David Hurd, 33, of Center Harbor, NH.
To know Justin was to know a gentle spirit with a deep love for the outdoors, a sharp mind, and a heart that held his family and friends close.
Born on July 15, 1992, Justin grew up in Center Harbor, where he spent countless joyful days camping with his family - memories that shaped his lifelong connection to nature. That early love of the outdoors grew into a passion for hiking the White Mountains, and he was immensely proud of completing all of New Hampshire's 4,000‑footers, a goal he pursued with quiet determination and genuine joy.
A graduate of Inter-Lakes High School, Class of 2010, Justin went on to earn his degree from Plymouth State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2016 - an achievement that reflected both his intelligence and his dedication.
Justin leaves behind a loving family who will forever feel the space he once filled: his parents, David and Lynn Hurd of Center Harbor; his brother Adam Hurd and wife Meghan; his nephew Jacob Hurd; and his nieces Adria Mullen and Shayla Hurd, all of Swanzey, NH. He is also survived by his grandmothers Elsie Shute and Patricia Chamberlain, both of Meredith; his uncles Charles Shute Jr. and Ty Shute of Center Harbor; his aunt Beverly Tibbets of Interlachen, FL; along with many cousins, great‑aunts, great‑uncles, and dear friends whom he loved deeply.
Justin was predeceased by his grandfathers, Charles Shute Sr. of Center Harbor and Richard Fogg of Meredith, both of whom he loved deeply.
Those who knew Justin will remember his quiet warmth, his thoughtful nature, and the way he found peace in the mountains he loved. His legacy lives on in every trail he walked, every person he touched, and every memory held close by those who loved him.
Calling hours are Monday, April 20, 2026 11:30 to 1:00 (11:00 for family) at Mayhew Funeral Home in Meredith NH followed by a graveside service at Meredith Village Cemetery.
