Julia A Dow

July 19, 1939 — December 31, 2023

Julie Angie (Shaw) Dow left this world 12/31/2023, peacefully at home as she wished. She is sleeping in Christ till her next waking moment in his arms. She leaves behind 7 children: Angela Dresser, Jennifer (Duane) Kingsbury, Lucinda (Thomas) Daigneault, Lorelei McClure, Charity (Bruce) Parker, Charles (Wayne Fajans) Dow, Christa (Aaron) Clapp, 20 Grandchildren, 18(+) Great Grandchildren, and one Great Great Grandchild. Her passing is also mourned by her sister Linda Siderio of Wales Maine and her family.

Julie was born in Gardner, Maine in July 1939. She graduated high school with a diploma from Monmouth Academy in 1957, and with her nursing degree from Central Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. Her career as a nurse spanned 42 years and four states and she distinguished herself as an effective trainer and administrator. She was especially proud of achieving her Bachelor’s Degree at the age of 50 following 10 years of juggling her career, her family and her schooling. She retired as a dedicated employee of the State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services in 2002.

Although she retired from her job, her work continued in the loving care of her husband and her mother, until their deaths in 2006 and 2008. Her sense of adventure and strong faith lead her to take up temporary residence in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she volunteered with the SonLife Broadcasting Network, and Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. Julie missed her family in the northeast, but found many new friends to love and care for there. Her love for her family was only exceeded by her faith in God. She prayed ceaselessly for her family, right until the end.

Julie’s family would like to thank Lakes Region VNA and Hospice and Sanbornton Fire and Rescue for their help and support over the past few months. Please consider donating to the VNA or a cause of your choice in Julie’s memory.

A Celebration of life will be held Sunday January 7, 2024, at 2pm at Calvary Bible Church in Meredith NH with a reception to immediately follow. Mayhew Funeral Homes is assisting with arrangements.
