Joyce Martin Smith

Joyce Martin Smith, 91, passed away on February 4, 2023 after a long illness. Born in Boston, MA in 1931, she was the daughter of Branch "Woodie" Martin and Elizabeth "Betty" Martin of South Weymouth and Pembroke, MA. She is survived by 2 younger brothers, Boyd W. Martin, of MA and Bruce B. Martin of MS.

Joyce married Darrell Davis Smith in 1952 and he preceded her in death in 2008. He was the retired Fire Chief of Marshfield, MA. They had 3 children, Warren D. Smith (Michele), Walter M. Smith (Carleen), and Donna A. Smith. She also was proud of her 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

During her lifetime, she was a Den Mother of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Campfire Girls Leader. Joyce was a retired Traffic Supervisor for the Weymouth, MA Police Department. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star since 1968 in Weymouth, MA and currently in the Ellacoya Chapter #43 in Holderness, NH.

There will be a family and Eastern Star Memorial Service at a future date in the Masonic Lodge Hall on Route 3 in Holderness, NH on the Center Harbor Town Line. Burial will be private at the Village Cemetery in South Weymouth, MA alongside her husband.
