Joyce B. Conlan

Joyce B. Conlan, 81, of Meredith (formerly of Reading, MA), passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a brief illness.
Born and raised in Medford, MA on August 23, 1932, she was the daughter of Walter and Doris (Kingston) Barnard. Joyce attended local schools in Medford, graduating from Medford High School. She went on to further her education at UMASS Amherst, where she earned her bachelor's degree.
Joyce spent many happy childhood years camping at Camp Andover, in Meredith and eventually became a camp counselor herself and spent many summers there as a dedicated employee. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; she loved spending time with her family, cooking for family and friends, was a talented glass painter and she also did stencil work.
She was a member of the Reading College Club, Reading Garden Club, and a 50 plus year member of the Reading Congregational Church.
Joyce is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Alan T. "Skip" Conlan, of Meredith; two daughters, Janet and husband H. Kirk Steen, III, of Marblehead, MA, Nancy Conlan, of Portland, ME; brother, Bruce Barnard and wife Carol, of Mashpee, MA; two grandchildren, H. Kirk Steen, IV, and Eric T. Steen, both of Marblehead, MA; brother and sister (in-laws), David Conlan, of Charlotte, NC, and Constance Wescott, of Salem, NH.
