Joseph S. Golab, 90, of Moultonborough, NH and Nokomis, FL, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2016 at Lakes Region General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 3, 1925 in Middletown, CT, son of of Magdalene (Pula) and Martin Golab.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary T. (Coughlin) Golab. He has 3 children; Linda, and her husband Leslie Howlett III of Tolland CT, Wayne Golab and his wife Marie of Methuen MA, and Karen Golab of Milton, NH. He is the loving Papa of 6 grandchildren; Ashley Golab, Matthew Golab, Emily (Howlett) and her husband Gardiner Reynolds IV, Sean Howlett, David Howlett and Michael Howlett. He was the loving Great-Grampa of Gardiner Reynolds V. He is also survived by his sister Bette Northam and her husband Robert of Moodus CT, as well as many dear nieces and nephews.
Joe graduated from Northeastern University, studying electrical engineering. He worked all of his life as a Registered Professional Engineer, in Electronics and Aeronautics. He was very proud to have worked on the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) for the historic trip to the moon of Apollo 16.
He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #428, of Laconia, NH. Joe was also a Lifetime Member of the Laconia Elks Lodge #876. He was a member of the Polish America Society of Venice, FL, and of the Radio-Controlled Model Airplane Clubs of Laconia, NH, and Venice FL. He was also a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
Joseph was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church of Meredith, NH and of Epiphany Cathedral of Venice FL.
SERVICES: Family and friends will honor and remember Joseph's life by gathering for calling hours in The Mayhew Funeral Home, 204 D.W. Hwy (Route 3 & Route 104), Meredith, NH on Thursday, June 9th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM before leaving in procession to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 300 NH Route 25, Meredith, NH for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Shannon Cemetery, in Moultonborough.
