Joseph L. Clark, Sr., 82, of Mount Prospect Road, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Speare Memorial Hospital, in Plymouth, after a period of declining health.
Born on September 6,1930 in Newark, N.J, Joseph was the son of Harold and Calista (Maderscheid) Clark-Hardigan. He was one of nine children. Joseph grew up in Newark area and graduated from Verona High School, Verona, NJ. He also was a graduate of Florida Southern College and Vanderbilt University. He was a brother of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
Prior to Joe's retirement, he had been a respected faculty member, intramural director, mentor and highly successful coach at Plymouth State (College) University for several decades. He was inducted twice into the PSU Athletic Hall of Fame. He had earned numerous awards for his career as a Professional Golfer's Association (PGA) Master Golf Professional, including The New England PGA Teacher of the Year, and Teacher of the Year by Golf Digest. He was a former director of the New Hampshire PGA. He was the owner and co-developer of Highland Links Golf Course in Holderness, N.H.
Joe was an accomplished lifetime athlete in many sports including golf, baseball and basketball. In his spare time and in his retirement, Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Joseph is survived his beloved wife of sixty years, Deloris "Dell" (Schiabor) Clark, of Holderness, two sons, Joseph L. Clark, Jr. of Holderness and Glenn A. Clark and his wife Mary Lynn of Orlando, daughter, Susan A. Clark of South Kingstown, Rl, six grandchildren, Devon, Abby, Lauren, Grace, Lena and Matthew, brother, John Clark and his wife Barbara of Sanford, FL, three sisters, Nancy Rinck and her husband Richard of Levittown, NY, Joyce Myers of Manchester, NJ, Ruth Ann Underwood and her husband Raymond of North Bend, WA, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
