MEREDITH - John R. Amabile, 80, passed away on June 27, 2024, at Concord Hospital Laconia after a short illness.
John was born in his family home in Meredith on September 5, 1943, the sixth of seven children for James and Ruth Amabile and lived in Meredith his entire life except for his time serving our country as a United States Marine. John met his future bride, Patricia Brown, as a teenager and they were married for 59 years and raised two children, Timothy and Cheryl. John was employed as a Lineman for 38 years before retiring.
John was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycling and playing cards. John was always looking for a project and claimed he could repair almost anything with a pocketknife and some black electrical tape. In his retirement John would meet with his dear friend Roydie Kennedy and they would attempt to solve the world’s problems from their spot at the Town Docks.
John is survived by his loving wife Patricia Amabile of Meredith; son Timothy Amabile of Meredith; daughter Cheryl Gray and her husband Keith of Gilford; Grandson Zachary Blake of Franklin; and Grandson Nicholas Blake and his wife Hayley of Belmont.
Per John’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or service.
