Joan George Shaw Milton, 79, Daughter of Harry George and Pearl Veasey George, passed peacefully on January 22, 2021 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital with her family by her side.
Joan was born in Holderness, NH on January 25, 1941. She graduated in 1959 from Plymouth Area High School. She went on to work as a telephone operator and other various jobs. She found real passion in the medical field where she worked for many years as a care giver and CNA.
You would often find her helping others whether she was working or on her own time. She was kind, caring, strong, brave, and unselfish sharing what ever she could that would help someone in need regardless of the situation.
Joan's second and equally important passion was anything to do with animals. Domestic or wild, it did not matter she loved them, and they loved her. Many of her pets were rescues, her patience and dedication to these animals, many that had been badly abused and scared of people, gave them, and her, new life. Caring and comforting them to be loving and trusting pets again came naturally for her.
Her overall favorite passion was her family. Her children, grandchildren, siblings and many nieces and nephews. If you needed her, she was there. She unselfishly sacrificed her own wants and desires to meet the needs of her loved ones.
She will live on through her children; daughters Elizabeth A. Ledger-Ashlee and Husband Kenneth of SC, Heather Gregory and husband Scott of NH; her sons Craig Milton and wife Tracy of NH, Tim Milton and Ami of NH, Toby Shaw and wife Wendy of NH, Oliver Northcott of NH, Grandchildren, Jessica P Faro and husband Erik, on NH, Alixzandria Gregory and Wife Ashley of NH, Mason Gregory of NH, Ryan Milton of NH, Amy Andrews Nyecki and husband Josh of NH, Jake Andrews of Colorado, Josh Andrews and wife Jennifer of NH, and Krystal Shaw of NY, Great grandchildren, Mysteria Faro, Jayden Shaw, Wyatt Andrews, Hadley Jane and Haley and Katie Milton of NH, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and sisters Delva Gauthier, Norma Batchelder, Una McCormack, and brother Floyd Burt and Grandson Matthew S Milton.
Joan's family will hold a memorial mass and a celebration of life in the spring. Date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers we ask you to please make donations in Joan's memory to an animal rescue or shelter of your choice.
