Joan E. Davies, 79, of Laconia, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Golden View Health Care Center, in Meredith after a lengthy illness.

Born in Laconia, on October 3, 1934, she was the daughter of Reginald and M. Bernadette (Tremblay) Morancy. Joan attended Sacred Heart School, and graduated from Laconia High School. After graduation Joan enlisted with the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, VA for four years during the Korean Conflict. She then went on to further her education at Laconia Voc. Tech.

Joan was a skilled bookkeeper who worked throughout her long career at several local businesses: the Charles Rogers, Co., Gilmore Office Products, and was a long-time employee for Belknap Tire Co. Never one to rest too long, Joan also worked several various jobs throughout her retirement.

She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting, and loved animals. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Joan is predeceased by her parents, brother, Gene Morancy, and great-grandson Kaden.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Boucher, of Moultonborough, Debra Quimby and husband Glen, of Derry; two sons, Rory Davies and his significant other Marlene Charleston, of N. Conway, Steven Davies, of Laconia; four grandchildren, Jason, Laura, Derek, Curtis; one great-grandson, Cody; step-sister, Arlene Graham and husband Phil, of Gilford; niece, Julie Bucciarelly; great-nephew, Eli Cilley; and long-time family friend, Carole Myrick.
