Joan Lorraine Ames

Joan Lorraine Ames, 78, of Wentworth, died April 14, 2017 at Golden View Health Care Center, in Meredith, NH, after a period of failing health.
Born in Wentworth on September 21, 1938, she was the daughter of William and Hazel (Whitney) Morrison. She was a life-long resident of Wentworth and a graduate of Plymouth High School.
Joan worked for many years as a type setter for Equity Publishing Company, in Orford, NH and also for the Fox Publishing Company in Braford, VT. She worked for a short time doing clerical work at King's Lumber Company, in Wentworth.
Joan enjoyed spending time reading and being in her flower garden. She also loved to vacation and travel.
Joan was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Morrison.
Joan is survived by her sons, Steven R. Ames and his wife Janet, Jeffry W. Ames and his wife Lisa, all of Wentworth, NH, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, her brother, Donald Morrison of Waycross, GA., her sister, Wilma Smiley of Southern Pines, NC., several nieces, and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the Ames Family Cemetery, 460 Buffalo Road, Wentworth, on Saturday, April 22nd, at 1pm. The Rev. Margaret Bickford, pastor of the Wentworth Congregational Church, will officiate.
