Janet E. Haslam, 83, of Holderness, passed away, on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the Lakes Region Hospital surrounded by her loving family, after a lenghty illness.Born on July 2, 1926, in St. Johnsbury, VT, she was the daughter of Perly and Cora (Danforth) MacDonald.Over the years she waitressed at numerous restaurants in the area, and was the head housekeeper at the Brickyard Mountiain Inn.Janet was a very generous, loving, and welcoming person; she had many friends whom she considered family. Janet loved to knit, play cards, and solve puzzles. For many years she was a member of T.O.P.S., of Plymouth, and had many friends at the Laconia Wellness Center. Janet's greatest joy was her loving family, her "surrogate" children, and her many, many dear friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt.Janet was predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, Millard A. Haslam, Sr.; five brothers, David, Neil, William, Donald, and Alan MacDonald; one sister, Lucille Armstrong; and her beloved grandson, Anthony W. Hurd.She is survived by her longtime friend, William Twombly, of Winchester, MA; three daughters, Coralie Dickinson, and husband Allen, of Meredith, Patricia Hurd, of Holderness, and Melody Haslam, of Bloomington, NM; three sons, Gordon Haslam, and wife Elizabeth, of Clovis, CA, Lonnie Haslam, and wife Donna, of Stockton, CA, and Michael Haslam, and wife Celeste, of Grand Terrace, CA; thirteen grandchildren, Deborah, Michael, Timothy, Gary, Gordon, Nysha, Janna, Jason, Nicole, Kyle, Michael, Matthew, and Tara; eighteen great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Stephany, Chase, Kylie, Margaux, Dillon, Tyler, Samuel, Cameron, Jessica, Christian, Kelan, Brian, Sean, Carson, Desiree, Ava, and Anthony; her "surrogate" children, Greg Berry and wife Jackie, of Meredith, and Ed Lutz and wife Leslie, of Lakeport; she was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janet's memory to the NH Humane society.Service:A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010, at 10:00 am, at Mayhew Funeral Home, (Rtes. 3 and 104) Meredith. The Rev. Carol Asher, pastor of the Center Harbor Congregational Church, will officiate.
