James Haywood Avery, 68, of Avery McGee Road, Thornton, died May 23, 2015 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital, in Lebanon, NH.
 
 
 Born in Plymouth, NH, on June 16, 1946, he was the son of George Foster and Rita (Edgell) Avery.
 
 
 James grew up in West Campton and has been a resident of Thornton for the past forty-seven years. He graduated from Campton schools and from Plymouth High School, class of 1964.
 
 
 James worked for the Tetley Construction Company, in Lincoln, for Twenty-seven years as a foreman carpenter. He also worked for several years for himself in the construction business.
 
 
 James was very involved for many years in many aspects with the Boy Scouts Pack #58. He was also very active in Dirt Track Racing in the White Mountain and Vermont areas for over forty-four years.
 
 
 James was a US Army veteran and had served in the Vietnam Conflict.
 
 
 James is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Sharon B. (McGee) Avery of Campton, sons, Corey J. Avery of Thornton, NH, Ryan R. Avery of West Campton, NH, two grandchildren Noah and Abigail, his brother, Malcolm Avery of West Campton, a niece and a nephew.
