August 13, 1933 — May 3, 2014

Isabel Ann "Izzy" Barach, 80, of Meredith, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, May 3, 2014.

Born on August 13, 1933 in Denver, Colorado, Isabel was the daughter of John C. and Dasa (Chucovich) Hollister. Izzy was raised in Denver attending local schools and furthered her education at the University of Denver, earning a bachelor's degree in education.

Before beginning her career in teaching she was a flight attendant for United Airlines which gave her great freedom and her newfound home in Boston, MA. Izzy embraced life in the city; it was there that she happened upon the love of her life, Bob Barach. Izzy and Bob married in 1958 and moved their young and growing family to Marblehead, Massachusetts; it was during the 1970's when the family moved to Ellsworth Hill, in West Campton, NH.

It was during this time that she began her career as a teacher. Izzy was passionate about nature, science and reading and her true enjoyment of teaching and learning shone through as a passion in the classroom. She worked as a teacher and teaching principal in Waterville Valley at the elementary school, and in the 2nd grade and as a Chapter I teacher at the Russell School, in Rumney, until she retired in 1995.

After leaving the classroom Izzy worked at Plymouth State University as a supervising teacher; she loved young people and treasured her role as their mentor.

Izzy looked forward to every day of her life, she loved to make plans with her friends & family, she enjoyed, symphony, opera classes and was accomplished artist, she kept busy with garden club Circle Program, library duties (as she was a trustee and volunteer at local libraries), and watching her grandchildren grow and thrive. Izzy made many trips back home to Colorado to see her beloved sister Cathy and her Rocky Mountains
Izzy was devoted to Bob; they lived out their remaining years at the Meredith Bay Colony Club, where they were surrounded by kindness, compassion and good people.

Izzy was predeceased by her parents, husband Bob, and dear sister, Dasa Joan Tobey

She is survived by her three children and their families, daughter, Anne Barach, and her children, Molly and Maddy Stevens, all of Meredith, son, Peter Barach and his wife Deb, and their children, Marisa and Anya, of Holderness, son, Bobby Barach and his wife Bally and their daughter, Dasha, all of Nova Scotia, Canada; her sister, Cathy and her husband Dan Crim, of Montrose, Colorado, and her niece, Jessica, and nephew, John.

Izzy taught us all to love learning and embrace life, her lessons about the importance of family, forgiveness, and the joys of friendship will be with us forever..
