Herbert Leon Farnham

Herbert Leon Farnham, Jr, 79, of Ossipee Mountain Road, died July 8, 2014, at the Wolfeboro Bay Center, in Wolfeboro, after a brief illness.

Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on January 4, 1935, Herbert was the son of Herbert Leon Sr. and Lillian (Peters) Farnham.

Herbert grew up in Quincy and Melrose, MA and graduated from Melrose High School, class of 1954. He also graduated from Suffolk University, in Boston, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He resided in Melrose for many years and was a summer resident of Moultonborough for many years. He moved to Moultonborough permanently in the early 1990's.

Herbert worked of many years with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority in the Highway Beautification Department, until his retirement in the late 1990's.

Herbert was very involved in the community of Moultonborough and belonged to many organizations including; the Moultonborough Conservation Committee, the Moultonborough Parade Organization committee, the Moultonborough Lions Club, the Moultonborough Grange and the Lakes Region Planning Commission. He was also a member of the Olive Branch Mount Prospect Lodge #16, F&AM, in Holderness and a communicant of Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, in Meredith.

Herbert was a US Coast Guard veteran, where he had served three years and also served for ten years in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Herbert loved the outdoors and enjoyed boating.

Herbert is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Joanne M. (Carlson) Farnham of Moultonborough, daughters, Kathleen F. Lamoureux of Irvin, CA, Mary Farnham Norton of Beverly, MA, grandchildren, Jonathan and Kevin Lamoureux.
