Herbert James Daigle

Herbert James Daigle, 86, of River View Drive, Thornton, died peacefully at home on May 13, 2017, with his devoted wife Shirley and three sons by his side.

Born in Providence, RI., he was the son of Herbert and Lily (Dwyer) Daigle.

Jim was a 1948 graduate of La Salle Academy and attended Providence College. He was drafted into the US Army, stationed at Fort Monmouth, NJ, and was an instructor in microwave technologies during the Korean War.

Professionally, Jim had a successful 32-year career with International Business Machines (IBM), working in the Providence, RI, and Garden City, Long Island, branches. In his day, he was the youngest branch manager in the company's history.

The Daigles raised their boys in Maple Glen, PA, New Canaan, CT, and later in Jamestown, RI. Jim was a sailor, skier and in his retirement, a lobsterman. The Daigles moved to Lincoln, New Hampshire in 1997, where Jim served as a ski instructor at Loon Mountain. In the summers he enjoyed working at the Owl's Nest Golf Club.
Jim was predeceased by his brother Bob in 2004 and sister Joyce (Bennett) in 2015.

Jim is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley (Dann) Daigle of Thornton, son Jim Daigle and his wife Deirdre of Pittsfield, NH; son Bob and his wife Maggie of Casco, ME; son Steve and wife Diana of Thornton, NH; 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 17th, at 11am at Saint Joseph's Church, 25 Church St., Lincoln, NH. Burial at Pine Grove in Thornton, will be private.
