Henry Herbert Stark, 90, of Meredith, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2010, at Lakes Region General Hospital, in Laconia, after a brief illness.Born in Louisville, KY, on May 31, 1920, he was the son of Henry H. and Emma (Oehrle) Stark. Henry was raised in Louisville and attended schools there. After graduating he went to work for his uncle's family business "Oehrle Coke and Coal Co.", before joining the US Coast Guard where he served with honor and pride during WWII.During his service with the Coast Guard, while stationed in St. Augustine, FL, he met and married his wife Herberta A. (Turner). Upon discharge they both moved to Herberta's home town of Meredith to work with her parents and become co-owners of the Meredith Furniture Co. They have both resided in Meredith ever since. Henry was very active in many town organizations including the Village Players, 1st Congregational Church of Meredith, local and state American Legion, and Rotary Club, in which he was the 1st Paul Harris Fellow."Hank" loved to tell stories, and just as much loved to listen to them and he had a great sense of humor. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 45 years, Herberta A. (Turner), in 1990Henry is survived by his daughter, Sally S. Johnson, and husband Gary, of N. Quincy, MA; a sister, Rose Clifford, of Louisville, KY; his three grandchildren, Katherine Hurley, and husband Patrick, of Boston, and Erin and Matthew Johnson, both of Quincy, MA; and many extended family members from the Louisville, KY area.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hank's memory to the Rotary Club of Meredith, PO Box 1210, Meredith, NH 03253, or to the 1st Congregational Church of Meredith, PO Box 533, Meredith, NH 03253Service:A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2010, in the 1st Congregational Church of Meredith, at 11:00 am, Rev. Russell Rowland, pastor, will officiate.Cemetery:Interment will be held after the service in the Meredith Village Cemetery (Rte. 3), at 12:30 pm.
