Henry B Chace, Iii

January 2, 1955 — October 29, 2024

MEREDITH---Chace, Henry B. III 1955-2024, who spent more than four decades as a technology professional with Boston law firms, died at his home in Meredith, New Hampshire on October 29, at the age of 69.

A native of Coventry, Rhode Island, where he lived through his high school years, Henry went on to graduate from the University of Rhode Island. After starting his career at Gaston, Snow & Ely, Bartlett in 1979 as a proofreader, he progressed into word processing then IT management. From 1993 to 2003, he served as director of technology for Hutchins, Wheeler & Ditmar P.C. then moved to Burns & Levinson LLP as CIO, where he remained until his retirement last April 2023. He was also active with several professional organizations, including the International Legal Technology Association, where he served in a number of senior positions, the Association of Legal Administrators and New England Litigation Technology Professionals.

Admired by his family, friends and coworkers for his kindness, dry wit and equanimity, Henry modeled those qualities through his treatment for cancer, which was diagnosed in February 2024.

A marvelous cook and a master of any laundry challenge, Henry enjoyed researching travel destinations for friends as well as himself and was an avid theater and opera goer.

Even as he loved spending time in Boston, his true home was Meredith, where he lived with his husband and partner of 46 years, George Longo; and their cat, Casey. He is survived by them as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

His commitment to his community was manifest in his years as a trustee of the Gordon Nash Library in New Hampton, New Hampshire, member of the New Hampton Historical Society and member of the Meredith Democrats.

A Celebration of Henry's Life will be held next summer, at his home in Meredith, with a Burial of his ashes in the cemetery on the property. Donations in his memory may be made to the Gordon Nash Library, 69 Main St., New Hampton, New Hampshire 03256.
