Helen Theresa Meehan

June 11, 1918 — April 6, 2016

Helen (Hayes) Meehan passed away peacefully April 6, 2016 with family at her side. She was born June 11, 1918 in Worcester, MA. and was the daughter of Edward and Catherine (Horan) Hayes. Helen completed her RN at Worcester City Hospital. She served in the U.S Navy as a Registered Nurse. Helen graduated from Boston College where she met Charles R. Meehan (deceased). They married June 12, 1954. They raised their children in Chelmsford, MA. Helen was a nursing instructor at Lowell General Hospital. She was active in the Chelmsford Garden Club. Upon Charlie's retirement they moved full time to Melvin Village, NH where they resided on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. They enjoyed countless hours fishing, tending to their gardens, socializing at yard sales and spending time with their beloved grandchildren. Helen made porcelain dolls with hand sewn outfits which she was proud to have had displayed in the Tuftonboro Library.
Helen was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Charles R. Meehan and her siblings Frances Hayes, Mary Hayes, Rita Pratt, John Hayes, Edmund Hayes and Tom Hayes
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Weigel and her husband Don of Meredith, NH and her son, Bob Meehan, his wife, Callie and their children Teagan, Shayla and Kyleah of Mirror Lake, NH.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, April 11, at 10 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Meredith. A burial with military honors will follow at Meredith Village Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Charles Borromeo Outreach Program.
