Helen Verna Arlington, 82, of Wesley Way, Gilford, died suddenly on December 19, 2015, at Lakes Region General Hospital, in Laconia.

Born in Camden, New Jersey on June 30, 1933, she was the daughter of Earl and Helen (Smith) Chamberlain.

Helen grew up in the Paulsboro, NJ. area and graduated from Paulsboro High School. She attended George Washington University, Ohio State University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Wills Eye Hosptial, in Philadelphia. Helen resided in Harrisville, NJ of many years and has been a resident of New Hampshire since 2011.

Helen worked as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician for the Scheie Eye Institute, the Department of Ophthalmology for the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, PA. for many years. While in Harrisville, NJ, Helen also raised and raced thoroughbred race horses.

Helen was a member of the Joint Commission on Allied Health in Ophthalmology and the Philadelphia Regional Ophthalmic Society. Helen as an avid lover of horse racing, Scrabble, crafts and enjoyed swimming, sewing, dinners and lunches with friends.

In September of 1950, Helen married Hans A. Andersen Jr, and in April of 1976, she married Edward Arlington, who died in 2009. She was also predeceased by her son, Gary Earl Andersen, who died in June of 2013 and her brother Earl Chamberlain.

Helen is survived by her son, Ronald H. Andersen and his wife Susan of Center Harbor, NH. two grandchildren, Matthew H. Andersen of Georgia, and Jeffrey A. Andersen of New York, her sister, Anna Andersen of Bradenton, FL., nieces and nephews.
