Hazel Louise Carr

Hazel Louise Carr, 88, of Center Harbor, NH and Leesburg, FL, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at her home in Center Harbor, in the presence of her loving husband and family after a brief illness.Hazel was born October 28, 1920, in Moultonborough, NH, the daughter of John L. and Katherine (Whiting) Blackey. Katherine graduated from Meredith High School, Class of 1938. She married her husband Donard, on March 5, 1940.She was employed for many years at the Robbins Store, Center Harbor, NH; she also belonged to the Junior Christmas Club.Hazel was a terrific cook and had a wonderful sense of humor; she loved the beautiful view of the lake at her house on Lake Winnipesauke, in Center Harbor, and enjoyed spending many summers there with her family. She spent many winters living in Panama City Beach, Fl, before moving to Leesburg, Fl, to be closer to her daughter Sylvia, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family and friends, especially all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was loved by them.Hazel is predeceased by a son, John Carr, formerly of Sunderland, Oregon; two brothers, Lloyd and Lee Blackey; and a sister, Bernice Recchia.She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Donard D. Carr, of Center Harbor and Leesburg, FL; two sons, Steven Carr and wife Lidia, of Alton, NH, and Adrian Carr and wife Lois, of Center Harbor; a daughter, Sylvia White and her husband Richard, of Center Harbor and Leesburg, FL; 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hazel's memory to the Community Health and Hospice, 780 N. Main St., Laconia, NH 03246, or to Meredith Public Health Nursing, Rt. 25, Meredith, 03253.Service:A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
