Grace M. Trask Newell, 89, a longtime resident of Bedford, NH passed away peacefully Friday, May 26, 2017, at the home of her daughter Kathryn and Ernest Coupe of Plymouth, NH. Grace died with her family and devoted caregiver, Carol Thalin at her side.
Born in Medford, MA on December 11, 1927, Grace was the daughter of Grace Clark of Cambridge, England and Charles Trask of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. After graduating, salutatorian, from Manchester High School West, she married Carlton R. Newell in 1947 and they were married for 64 years.
Grace became very active in the Bedford community and a devoted member of the Bedford Presbyterian Church for forty years. She was awarded Honorary Life Membership as a Presbyterian Woman and was a three-time president of the Bedford Presbyterian Ladies Circle. She also was a service member of the Bedford Women's Club, Inc. and a life member of the Elliot Hospital Associates. Grace had a beautiful singing voice and was a member of Sweet Adeline's.
Besides her church contributions, Grace was also an active member of the Garden Club and a community leader for the NYC Summer Fresh Air Fund. Grace was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Immediate family members include her three daughters, Nancy Newell VanLoan and her husband, P. Nicholas VanLoan of Webster, NH, Kathryn Newell Coupe and her husband, Ernest L. Coupe, Jr. of Plymouth, NH, and Patricia Newell Bourque and her husband, Robert Bourque of Holderness, NH. Grace was blessed with seven grandchildren, Anneke VanLoan McStowe and Carl VanLoan (Paula), Samuel Coupe (Courtney), Eliza Coupe Olien (Darin), Thomas Coupe, SarahBeth Bourque Corey (Joseph) and Benjamin Bourque.
No services are planned; Grace requested a small graveside burial and laid to rest beside her beloved husband in the Bedford Center Cemetery.
