Gordon Blais 72, passed away on February 21, 2025, at his home in Meredith, NH with his loving wife by his side. Born in Berlin, NH on March 23, 1952, to Gedeon and Julienne (Labbe) Blais. Gordon met and married the love of his life, Cheryl (Lavoie) Blais and together they raised two sons. He was a devoted husband and loving father.
Gordon was a hard-working and dedicated to providing for his family. He spent 20 years working as a Maintenance Electrician at the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant. Upon moving to the Lakes Region in 2001, he worked as a Real Estate Agent and Home Inspector. During his time as a Real Estate Agent, he helped his oldest son and wife find the perfect spot to settle down and build a home. His favorite job may have been his last before full retirement. Driving a school bus. He came home with so many stories and jokes that the children shared with him.
Gordon was never shy and always had the “gift of gab”. He made friends everywhere he went and always had a story, joke, or riddle at the ready. He was an entertainer at heart and loved bringing joy to all he met.
Gordon enjoyed blues, rock and classical music, riding his motorcycle and several cross-country trips with friends. He enjoyed woodworking, coaching little league and taking his grandson to the batting cages. Making others laugh was his favorite past time.
Gordon and his wife built their home in Hampton as they started their family, then when they moved north to the Lake’s Region, he began the building of his custom post and beam home. Gordon was involved in every step of this process from clearing the land to cutting the trees, milling and drying and carving each beam by hand. As Gordon always said he “built it from the trees up.”
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Cheryl, son Nathan and his wife Jessica, grandson Ryan, son Christopher, and brother Richard, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Viewing hours will be on February 28, 2025, from 11-12, and funeral service will immediately follow at Noon at Mayhew Funeral home in Meredith, NH.
