Gerald E. Miller, Sr., 82, of River Street, Holderness, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011, at the Golden View Nursing Home, in Meredith after a lengthy illness.Born on February 11, 1928 in Holderness, he was the son of George and Maude (Dow) Miller. Gerald was raised in Holderness and attended local schools. Gerald joined the Navy before finishing high school and before discharge rejoined with the Army. He proudly served his country with honor during WWII.A lifelong resident of Holderness; Gerald worked for the Bee Bee River Lumber Mill for many years until it closed, he then went on to work for Plymouth State University as a painter for many years. Gerald was a hard worker and worked regularly through his retirement always keeping busy. He loved carpentry, and also liked panning for gold in his spare time. He was a family man who loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.Gerald is predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Lorraine A. (Loan) Miller; a brother, Brandon Miller, and a sister, Nora Cher.He is survived by his four children, Cheryl Clay and husband John, of Woodbridge, VA, Gerald E. Miller, Jr. and wife Sheila, of Bristol, Todd Miller, of Holderness, and Lisa Jordan and husband Noelle, of CT; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Service:There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10:00 am in the Trinity Cemetery, of Holderness. Rev. Edward J. Charest, pastor of the Plymouth United Methodist Church will officiate.
