Fayre R. Stickney, 92, of Holderness, died February 5, 2019 at the Grafton County Home, in N. Haverhill, NH., after a period of failing health.
Born in Concord, NH on March 2, 1926, she was the daughter of Harold F. and Audrey (Tebbetts) Roberts.
Fayre grew up in Concord and graduated from Concord High School, class of 1944. In her younger years when her children were small, Fayre was a farm wife in South Ryegate, VT. She was active in the Ryegate Corner Grange 4-H, the Home Extension Program and the Ryegate Corner Congregational Church. She resided in the Merrimack and Concord area for many years. She has been a resident of Holderness since 2008.
When Fayre returned to Southern New Hampshire, she started her career with the United State Postal Service. She spent twenty years as a rural route carrier for the Merrimack Post office. After retiring from the USPS, Fayre went to work for the Concord VNA. After moving to Holderness to be closer to her family, Fayre was a volunteer at the Plymouth Senior Center, where she was a big part of Meals on Wheels program. She made friends with every family she cared for.
Fayre enjoyed ceramics, cake decorating, quilting, playing cards with her friends she met at Campton Congregational Church, Knitting and being a voracious reader. She always loved her visits to Nubble Lighthouse, in Maine. She was a people person and maintained lasting life relationships with not only former co-workers but everyone she met.
Fayre was most proud of her five generations of family. In her words, "Surpassed even Queen Elizabeth"
Fayre was predeceased by her husband, Charles H. Stickney and her brother Clayton Roberts.
Fayre leaves behind her brokenhearted family, son, Gordon A. Riley Jr. of Lincoln, two daughters, Pat Keniston of Campton, Betty J. Riley of N. Woodstock, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, brother, Alfred Roberts of Branchburg, NJ, sister, Claire Smith of Mansfield, PA, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held the Campton Congregational Church, NH Route 175, Campton, on Wednesday, Feb. 13th, at 11am. The Reverends Russell and Cynthia Petrie will officiate.
Private burial will be held in the Maple Grove Cemetery, in Concord, NH.
