RUMNEY--- Evelyn May Erickson, 97, of Old Route 25, passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a sudden illness.
 
 
 Evelyn was born on August 15, 1917, the daughter of Alden and Flora (Hall) Burt of Long Island, New York. She and her family later moved to West Rumney Village, New Hampshire, where she lived most of her life. She was a 1936 graduate of Plymouth High school.
 
 
 Evelyn lived and worked in Miami Beach. While in Miami, she met her husband Herbert during World War II, where he was stationed by the United States Navy. They relocated to California and Tennessee. They were both motorcycle enthusiasts and shared a passion for motorcycles. Evelyn was a member of the Miami Beach Maids Motorcycle Corps during World War II while she was in Miami and served as an Aircraft Spotter.
 
 
 In New Hampshire, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of Rumney Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and VBS for 40 years, a member of the Grange, decorated cakes, worked as a Girl Scout leader, and performed civic duties too numerous to list. Evelyn worked at many jobs; in the restaurant trade, in plastic manufacturing, furniture production, and was a school bus driver. She was employed by IPC until her retirement. Following retirement, Evelyn continued to be involved by volunteering with Meals-on-Wheels, visiting shut-ins, and teaching Sunday school. She drove her1941 Indian Scout Motorcycle until the age of 80. She enjoyed the company of many favorite cats through out her long life.
 
 
 Evelyn is survived by her three children; Steve Erickson, Sharon L. Harrison, and Sally Gaedtke. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband who passed away in 1967. She was also predeceased by; her brothers, Lloyd Burt and Alden Burt. Three sisters; Marjorie Patterson, Arline Cook and Pauline Johnson, and her daughter, Susan MacKinnon. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
