Evelyn H. Berg

Evelyn H. Berg, 88, formerly of Rumney, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2009 after a lenghty illness at the Golden View Health Care Center, in Meredith.Born on September 15, 1921 to George S. and Mildred D. (Mott) Harris in Norwell, MA. Evelyn grew up in Warner, New Hampshire where she attended Simonds High School and graduated the Valedictorian of her class.Evelyn graduated from the Plymouth Teachers College in 1943 and went on to teach in one room schools in Newbury, NH and Canterbury, NH, and then taught first grade in Plymouth, NH for three years.She left teaching to marry Ralph A. Berg, Jr. on June 12, 1969, together they started a Real Estate business and had fifty years of hapiness.Her pride was her home and grounds. She was a wonderful cook, and loved to have people in to visit, eat, and talk about her collection of salt cellars.She leaves her husband Ralph, daughter Mary Manita, two step-sons, Christopher Berg and Deane Berg and their wives Joann and Kim, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyns name to the West Rumney Community Church, c/o Jill Miller, Old Route 25, Rumney, NH 03266Service:A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 10:00 am in the Highland Cemetery, Rumney, NH.Cemetery:Highland Cemetery, Rumney, NH.
