HOLDERNESS--- Eugene A. Dailey, (87) passed away on January 8, 2018 at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, NH.
Eugene was born on September 25, 1930 in Calais, VT. The son of Arthur and Luna Dailey (Dunham).
Eugene grew up in Calais, VT attending school in the Calais area. After school he worked with his father on the family farm. Eugene then enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Korea, also serving in the U.S. Army Honor Guard and being assigned a detail at General Omar Bradley's residence during his tour in the Army. After Eugene returned home to Fairlee, VT, he went back to work with his father logging.
In 1954 he met Anna and in 1955 they were married and had two daughters. In 1958 the family moved to Holderness, where Eugene continued logging, until going to work for Pike Construction in Tilton, NH, where Eugene was known for being the best roller operator. In later years the family moved to Center Harbor, raising the girls, before moving back to Holderness.
Eugene loved his kids and grandchildren, spending as much time with them as possible. He loved sharing his 8-track music with them, listening to Box Car Willie, Johnny Cash and other country favorites while out in the backyard. He enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, camping and traveling across country with his family. Eugene truly enjoyed life.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Anna Dailey (Brown) his two daughters; Doreen Dailey-Visconti and her husband Tony of Campton, NH, and Dawna Smith and her husband Steven of Meredith, NH. Five grandchildren; Shawna Dailey of Campton, NH, A.J. Visconti of Campton, NH, Jordan Visconti of Campton, NH, Jalisah Smith of Meredith, NH, Jade Smith of Meredith, NH, his nephew; Dean Hodge of Holderness, NH, Brother in Law; Robert Edmands of Fairlee, VT, and his best friend; Dale McBeath of Campton, NH.
Eugene was pre-deceased by his parents; sisters; Doris Hodge and Eunice Edmands and his brother; Frank Dailey.
