Ernest Hodge Davidson, 85, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26, 2010, at St. Francis Home, in Laconia.He was born July 20, 1925, in Upton, MA, the son of Clifton and Mavorette (Wilbur) Davidson. He graduated high school in 1943 and enlisted in the Marines soon after, serving his country with honor and valor from 1943 through 1946.Ernest worked for Draper's, of Hopedale, MA, then at the Water's Associates, of Milford, MA. Ernest and his wife Shirley moved to Bristol, and together they founded Davidson's Countryside Campground, in 1977.He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Shirley L. (Whitten)Ernest is survived by his three daughters, Sally Bose, Sandra Perry, and Amy Southland; a son, Alan Davidson; his brother, Harold Davidson, and sister, Lois Spearin; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Huckins, Andrew, Jonathan, and Allison Southland, Melissa Bose-Merrill, Matthew Bose, Julie Hayes, and Ryan Perry; and five great-grandchildren, Julia and Jeffrey Huckins, Austin Fanning, Kai and Evan Merrill.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ernest's name to the New Hampton Community Church.Service:A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 30, 2010, at 11:00 am, in the New Hampton Community Church, of New Hampton. Rev. Scott Mitchell will officiate.Cemetery:Interment will be held in the Homeland Cemetery, of Bristol, following the service.
