Elva Carlene Muzzey

Elva C. [Eastman] Muzzey of Goves Lane, Wentworth N.H. passed away peacefully at home on April 12,2017 surrounded by family and friends 3 days before her 94th birthday.

Born April 15,1923, in Plymouth N.H. to Roy and Evelyn Eastman [Rodimon], Elva attended Plymouth schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1941.

On January 13, 1944, Elva married her high school sweetheart Maurice H. Muzzey, a Wentworth resident serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps, and moved with Maurice to his station in Ft. Myers Florida. Two years later Elva returned to N.H. pregnant with the first of their four children.

Along with being a devoted homemaker, Elva was a well-known volunteer in her community serving organizations including the Congregational Churches in Plymouth and Wentworth, Speare Memorial Hospital, the Mooselaukee Health Center, and the Wentworth Historical Society. She also served as Wentworth Tax Collector for several years after she and Maurice relocated to Maurice's home town in 1975.

Elva and Maurice were active members of the Baker River Valley Snowmobile Club. Elva also enjoyed their many hours of fishing for trout and salmon on local waterways in the Spring and family outings on Squam Lake in the Summer. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Hobbies included arts and crafts, and tending to her flower gardens.

Elva was the recipient of the Wentworth Boston Cane, in December of 2016.

Elva was predeceased by her husband of fifty-nine years, Maurice H. in 2003, her sister Claire in 2003, and her brother Roy in 2016.

Elva is survived by her four children, Maurice K. Muzzey [Rose] of Rumney N.H., Diane C. Cheney of Warren, N.H., Robert W. Muzzey [Teresa] of Canterbury N.H., and William R. Muzzey of Rumney, N.H., 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law, Wesley L. Muzzey of Rumney.

A graveside service will be held at Fosters Cemetery, NH Rte. 25, Wentworth on Tuesday, April 18th, at 2 P.M., followed by a celebration of Elva's life at the Wentworth Congregational Church.
