Elmer Charles White

December 2, 1928 — November 20, 2023

Laconia - Elmer Charles White passed away on November 20, 2023 at Genesis Rehabilitation. He was born on December 2, 1928 in Whitefield, NH and was the son of Leonard White and Adelaide (Largy) White Walter.
He attended Whitefield School through the 8th grade, at which time he quit school to work and help support his single mother and his siblings.
At age 14, while attending a high school graduation, he spotted a pretty young girl with long auburn hair. He elbowed his buddy and said that she was going to be his wife... and so she was.
Whitie (as everyone called him), married Madeline Johnson on May 2, 1946 when he was 17 years old and Madeline was 21. They were married 67 1/2 years until Madeline's death in November of 2012.
He was a hard worker and loved to be busy. Even into his 90's he was still cutting wood, splitting and stacking it, and working in the garden. He loved being outside and thoroughly enjoyed his job of 19 years with Public Service of New Hampshire. His job mainly consisted of walking the high-power lines for miles a day, and climbing the poles when he saw something that needed closer inspection. It was perfect for him.
Whitie loved his Lord and was always ready to share his testimony with whoever would listen. He served in many areas at Calvary Bible Church (previously Advent Christian Church) in Meredith. In 1973 Whitie and Madeline moved to western Mass to help start a new church. They eventually settled in Granby, MA next door to the church. They lived there for 25 years before returning to Meredith.
He attended Heritage Baptist Church for the past several years with his daughter, Carol, and many looked forward to being greeted by him with a smile and a hug. He gave the best hugs!
Whitie was predeceased by his wife, Madeline; sons-in-law Wayne Richards and David Connor; great-granddaughter Tiffany Richards; grandson Jeremy White; brother Ronald White; and sister Patrecia Doan.
He is survived by his six children: daughter Carol Richards-Connor, Meredith, NH; son Richard White and wife Sylvia, Leesburg, FL; son Robert White and wife Helen, Moultonborough, NH; daughter Susan Adams and husband Robert, Meredith, NH; daughter Patty Gianunzio and husband Pat, Laconia, NH; son Alan White and wife Carla, Durant, OK; 10 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Whitie's 95th birthday, December 2, at 12:00 PM, at the Heritage Baptist Church on Meredith Center Road in Laconia, NH. A light lunch will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be made in memory of Whitie to Voice of the Martyrs, a ministry that he supported for many years and was passionate about. Voice of the Martyrs address is: 1815 SE Bison Rd, Bartlesville, OK 74006. Envelopes will be available at the church service.
