BRENTWOOD, NH – Ellen Tierney Roberts of Brentwood, NH, formerly of Madison and Merrimack, NH, went peacefully to meet her Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Ellen was born in Lawrence, MA, on November 22, 1948. She was the youngest daughter of John J. and Anna L. Tierney. After graduating from the Presentation of Mary Academy in Methuen, MA, Ellen attended Rivier University in Nashua, NH. While attending Rivier, Ellen met her husband of forty-nine years, Charles Lloyd Roberts.
Ellen and Charlie settled first in Nashua NH, where they welcomed their two sons, Brian and Sean. In 1976, they moved to Merrimack, NH, where they would spend the next 33 years. After a brief move to Cherryville, NC, Ellen and Charlie moved back to Madison, NH, and eventually to Brentwood, NH, where they would spend their remaining time together.
Ellen was employed as loan specialist with Indian Head Bank (Fleet Bank), served as a Customer Service Representative in the medical insurance industry, and finally as the Office Manager for Dr. Alan Goldenhar at the North Conway Memorial Hospital.
Ellen was not only a cancer survivor, but a cancer fighter. After 12 years of being in remission from Lymphoma, Ellen continued her cancer battle with abdominal Carcinoids until her passing.
Ellen was a true artist. Whether it was cake decorating, chocolate candy making, knitting, or making her famous applesauce at Thanksgiving, Ellen was extremely talented. If you were lucky enough to get one of her holiday-themed knit hats, you knew it was made with Love. All of her grandkids received fresh-knit sweaters and bonnets upon their birth (even if they were born in the hot summer months), and special knit blankets later in life.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband Charlie, and sisters, Jane M. Tierney and Joanne T. Aliquo. She is survived by her sons, Brian Roberts of Newburyport and Sean Roberts of Nahant; grandchildren, Lindsey, Owen, Theo, Tiernan, and Madelyn Roberts; niece, Mary Aliquo of Salisbury; and nephew, Mark Aliquo of South Portland, ME.
Ellen has been laid to rest at the Meredith Village Cemetery, alongside her husband, Charlie. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Meredith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ellen’s name to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
