Meredith

MEREDITH --- Elaine M. (DeSantis) Hardiman of Meredith, NH, and formerly of Wakefield, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Martin J. Hardiman, Jr. Loving mother of Martin Hardiman, III and his wife Barbara of Wakefield, Stephen Hardiman and his wife Sonja of Billings, Montana, and Laura Hardiman and her husband William Giles, Jr. of Meredith, NH. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Brenna, Nikolas, Julianna, Taylor, Dylan, Kirsten and her precious Alex.

Elaine was born on March 1, 1937, in Malden, NH, to the late Alphonse and Aurora “Laura” DeSantis of Boston. She met and married her one true love, Marty, and settled in Malden where they raised 3 children. She loved going to Bingo with the girls, knitting and puzzles. She especially enjoyed activities that stimulated her mind. She worked as a legal secretary when her children were young and later as a medical office assistant.

Many fond memories were made summering with family and dear friends on the lake, staying at “the cottage” or visiting her son and grandkids in Montana. She overcame numerous challenges in her 88 years and showed incredible resiliency. Her family takes great comfort in knowing she’s no longer suffering and is finally reunited with her beloved Marty after 38 years apart.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 1:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2025, at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

Arrangements are under the care of Mayhew Funeral Homes and Crematorium. To sign the online book of memories, please go to mayhewfuneralhomes.com.
