Earl Ryder Fullerton, 83, of Marvin Road, died August 28, 2010, at lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia. He passed on from this life just as he lived it, surrounded by his family, smiling. Born in Somerville Mass on December 5, 1927, he was the son of Marvin and Estella [Ryder] Fullerton. Earl grew up in Somerville and attended Somervillle Schools. He resided there for many years before moving to Wilmington, MA. He lived in the Ossipee area from 1963 to 1971 and has been a resident of Moultonborough since 1976. Earl and his wife, Mary, owned and operated Crystal Pond Courtel, in West Ossipee. In March of 1973, he went to work for the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, as a dispatcher and was appointed Deputy Sheriff in 1983. He also worked as a self employed contractor and he has built several homes for his family. He was most recently working for the Moultonborough Police Department and Red Hill Automotive, in Center Harbor. Earl was very active in civic affairs and had served as a Lieutenant on the West Ossipee Fire Department, Fire Commissioner for the Ossipee Prescient and Civil Defense Director for the Town of Ossipee. He also was a part time police officer for Ossipee Police Department. He was a past member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #53, Melrose Mass. He was a World War II US Merchant Marine veteran. Earl is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary P. [Cawthone] Fullerton of Moultonborough, children, Wayne R. Fullerton of Saudi Arabia, Peter E. Fullerton of West Ossipee, Nadine Wade of Silver Lake, NH, David S. Fullerton and Mark A Fullerton, both of Moultonborough, seventeen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, sister, Bernice Byrne of Millis, MA, many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, Routes #3 and #104, Meredith, on Wednesday 5pm to 8pm. Service: A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11am in the Moultonborough United Methodist Church, Route #25, Moultonborough. The Rev. Paul O'Neil, pastor, and Rev. Murray Nickerson will co-officiate. Cemetery: Burial will follow in the Holland Hill Cemetery, Moultonborough.
