On September 2, 2024, Douglas C Barron, 60, of Laconia, NH peacefully left this Earth to join his beloved daughter Brooke.
Doug was born on March 14,1964 in Lawrence, Ma to Charles and Shirley Barron. He was a lifelong resident of Andover, Ma until 2004 when he and his wife Juli moved to Tamworth, NH to raise the kids on a farm where hard work and responsibility was the foundation for a beautiful life.
Doug had an entrepreneurial spirit which made him successful in his many business ventures. He was well known as being the third-generation owner of Barron’s Country Store in Andover, Ma until he retired in 2020. His passion was sitting in the driver’s seat of his Peterbilt hauling this and that to here and there. An accomplishment he was most proud of was when he drove his truck down to New York City after the 9/11 terror attacks. His trucking company, Top Dog Enterprises also worked on Boston’s Big Dig for many years.
Underneath his rugged exterior was a kind soul that was loyal to his people. He loved entertaining at the farm whether it be an impromptu gathering around the pool, a card game on the screen porch or a weekend long pig roast with 200 of his closest friends. Doug’s many hobbies included stock car racing, riding his Harley, snowmobiling and boating. He raced with the Wilmington Race Team, never missed a Laconia Bike Week and spent weekends on Lake Winnipesaukee either boating or snowmobiling depending on the season. He and his cousin Dick visited Montana several times for “man ride” snowmobile trips.
Doug leaves behind his loving wife of 25 years, Juli Barron, his daughter and son-in-law, Leanne and Gary Murphy, his granddaughter Kendall Murphy, sister Brenda Boucher, nieces Jackie Himmer, Jillian Brown, her husband Greg and their 4 children.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Shirley Barron, and his daughter Brooke who he adored.
Calling hours will be held at Mayhew Funeral Home in Meredith, NH on Friday September 6th from 4-7pm. A funeral mass will be held at St Charles Borromeo in Meredith, NH on Monday September 9th at 11am.
