Doris Louise Lavallee, 88, formerly of Meredith, died September 24, 2014 at Golden View Health Care Center, in Meredith, NH.
Born in Sutton, Massachusetts on November 9, 1925, she was the daughter of Tracy Leroy and Irene E. (Chartier) Horne.
Doris grew up in Manchaug, MA and graduated from Sutton High School, class of 1944 and the Laconia Business College, in Laconia, NH. She also graduated from Plymouth State College, Plymouth, NH, with a bachelor's degree in History Medieval Studies. Doris resided in Nashua for ten years and moved to Meredith in 1976. She has been living in Groton since October of 2006.
Doris worked, as an Administrative Assistant, for ten years at Saunders Associates, in Nashua and then for twenty years for Plymouth State College, in the Registrar office.
Doris was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Ellacoya Chapter #43 Order of Eastern Star, the Lakeside Rebekahs, all in Meredith and the Ashland Rebekahs, in Ashland.
Doris loved genealogy and had traced her family back to England, before the Mayflower. She also loved to knit.
Doris was predeceased by her brother, Tracy Horne and her sisters, Marion Trevor, Betty Swain, and Edith Hartford.
Doris is survived by her son, Thomas M. "Chipper" Lavallee and his wife Robin of Oxnard, CA, her daughter, Leslie Lavallee of Alexandria, grandchildren, Cassandra L. Viger and her husband Ronald of Groton, Garrett E. Lavalle of Oxnard, CA, two great grandchildren, Emma J. and Josephine S. in Groton, her brother, Guy E. Horne of E. Douglas, MA, her sisters, Hazel H. Merchant of Norwich, VT, Helen H. Robertson of Apollo Beach, FL, many nieces and nephews.
